Azure Cremation Urn for Ashes

Our Azure cremation urn is beautifully handcrafted using the raku firing technique. It has a beautiful blue colour with tints of other hues, creating a speckled look, giving it almost a calm deep blue waters feel to it. The round shape of this urn makes it an ideal fit into any home, giving the impression of wholeness and love.

The glossy look which makes this urns surface shine is known as a luster. It is a technique where lusters are applied on top of the glaze that has already been fired and reached maturity at a higher temperature. Therefore, when re-fired with luster at a low temperature, the glaze does not melt. This allows the metallic salts of the luster to bond to the glaze, giving off this beautiful rainbow-like iridescent surface.

Each cremation urn is one of a kind and not repeatable, a perfect tribute to your loved one. The Raku firing technique consists of glazed ceramics which undergo a quick firing process at around 1000℃. The pottery is then removed from the kiln whilst they are still glowing red hot to be placed in a material that would cool the pieces rapidly.
