This small urn can be opened at the base by accessing the 4 screws attached, undoing them allows you to lift off a section of the urn and securely place the ashes inside. In order to add the gold leaf to a surface it must first be prepared with a surface paint, then applied with adhesive followed by, burnishing, cleaning, pre-paint sealing, painting, and a final post-paint sealing. Ultimately, applying gold leaf is challenging and a lot of careful work is required in order to achieve the perfect painted gold leaf surface.

In the Medieval Era, halos of gold leaf were used in art to signify the heavenly or unearthly, much like your loved one who has left our world. Similarly, in 17th century Japan, gold leaf was used to evoke a celestial feeling towards the heavens.
