Diamond Keepsake Urn for Ashes
SKU: WUUC 045
This Diamond Cremation Urn for Ashes has been designed to hold the precious ashes of an adult and has been cut to present clean surfaces and precise edges.
This small urn has been sculpted to resemble an uncut diamond, this is to represent the strength and purity of a raw diamond. This piece has been crafted to be a simple yet thought-provoking figure as a reflection of the rarity of diamonds.
The carefully carved wood has been sculpted to deliver a surface which feels smooth to the touch, providing you with a sense of tranquillity when the urn is held. Whilst this wooden urn was designed to be within your home, it can also be buried in the ground - as this type of wood will naturally decompose between 2 - 5 years and your loved one's ashes will be released into the earth.
Our Diamond Cremation Urn can be opened at the base by accessing the 4 screws attached, undoing them allows you to lift off a section of the urn and securely place the ashes inside. The urn for ashes is made from ash wood, and comes in four different variations. This includes ash wood, ash wood painted silver, ash wood painted green with gold flourishes and ash wood painted purple with gold flourishes. This keepsake urn is also available in an adult size.
Authentic gold leaf is created by hammering gold into very thin sheets which vary in gold content and weight. It is approximately 91.7% gold, equating to 22 karat. Gold has been a symbol of opulence from the beginning, with Greek ideology that by looking upon the gold sculptures, a viewer could better themselves.
The process of layering gold leaf over a surface is called gold leafing or gilding. In order to add the gold leaf to a surface it must first be prepared with a surface paint, then applied with adhesive followed by, burnishing, cleaning, pre-paint sealing, painting, and a final post-paint sealing. Ultimately, applying gold leaf is challenging and a lot of careful work is required in order to achieve the perfect painted gold leaf surface.
Throughout history, gold leaf has been used to portray many things. In the Medieval Era, halos of gold leaf were used in art to signify the heavenly or unearthly, much like your loved one who has left our world. Similarly, in 17th century Japan, gold leaf was used to evoke a celestial feeling towards the heavens.
