Phanes Cremation Urn for Ashes

The Phanes Cremation urn is masterfully handcrafted and fired in a Kiln, making a truly unique, one of a kind urn for ashes. The Phanes design is inspired by, Ancient Greek designs, with its namesake being the creator deity, Phanes.

This adult urn features beautiful transitions from a soft peach hue to white and black, and the lid features intricate etchings at the top. The Phanes cremation urn is ideal for a home with emphasis on classic decor. 

The Saggar firing technique makes use of Iron(III), otherwise known as Ferric Chloride, a compound commonly used in etching copper circuit boards and water treatment. Each clay urn is coated and wrapped in raw materials such as copper wire, steel wool, ferns, sugar, salt, and aluminium foil before firing to 1100°C.

The foil then traps the fumes created as the materials burn away, which imprint themselves into the surface of the clay. Because of this, each piece is completely one of a kind, never to be reproduced. This is, of course, a feature and one of the many beautiful aspects making this Saggar cremation urn a beautiful piece of decor.
