The long cylinder shape can easily be held with one hand away from the body to help prevent having the ashes blown back towards you. There is a push-in tab at the top of the scattering tube allowing you to easily make an opening at the top.

If your desired location to scatter the ashes requires transportation by aeroplane, the airlines permit you to take the ashes within your hand luggage.
