The Eclipse Cremation Urn for Ashes has been beautifully handcrafted by Italian artisans. This urn has been designed to have an eclipse-ring-like shape encompassing the middle of the urn. This wooden piece has an artistic and modern look and has been crafted with the utmost care.

An eclipse is known to represent sudden change, powerful change of heart and culminations. The urn has a pleasant colour and calm-like grain of wood giving it a warm feeling thus offering a dignified resting place for the ashes of your loved one.

The carefully carved wood has been sculpted to deliver a surface which feels smooth to the touch, providing you with a sense of tranquillity when the urn is held. Whilst this wooden urn was designed to be within your home, it can also be buried in the ground - as this type of wood will naturally decompose between 2 - 5 years and your loved one's ashes will be released into the earth. Sometimes the hole for burial can be quite deep, in these circumstances you can also purchase a Lowering Cord which provides a safe method for lowering the urn into the ground, preventing the risk of dropping your urn or having to kneel down.

The ashes compartment of the Eclipse wooden urn can be located in the middle of the urn, allowing you to safely store your angel's ashes inside. We include a biodegradable bag to hold your loved one's ashes within this urn. This urn for ashes comes in variations of Swiss pine, as well as beech wood - along with the option to have either variation painted with gold or silver and Swiss pine with real gold leaf.

Authentic gold leaf is created by hammering gold into very thin sheets which vary in gold content and weight. It is approximately 91.7% gold, equating to 22 karat. Gold has been a symbol of opulence from the beginning, with Greek ideology that by looking upon the gold sculptures, a viewer could better themselves.

The process of layering gold leaf over a surface is called gold leafing or gilding. In order to add the gold leaf to a surface it must first be prepared with a surface paint, then applied with adhesive followed by, burnishing, cleaning, pre-paint sealing, painting, and a final post-paint sealing. Ultimately, applying gold leaf is challenging and a lot of careful work is required in order to achieve the perfect painted gold leaf surface.

Throughout history, gold leaf has been used to portray many things. In the Medieval Era, halos of gold leaf were used in art to signify the heavenly or unearthly, much like your loved one who has left our world. Similarly, in 17th century Japan, gold leaf was used to evoke a celestial feeling towards the heavens.
