Our Teardrop Urn is an intricately handcrafted tear shaped urn, made from soft, light limewood. While limewood is dense and sturdy, the fine carving work of this piece makes the outer portion soft to the touch and easy to handle.

This urn, featuring a small love heart which is cushioned at the bottom of the urn, evokes a feeling of peace and love throughout your home, the design is very subtle at first glance, but under closer inspection its beauty becomes apparent, inspiring conversation.

The carefully carved wood has been sculpted to deliver a surface which feels smooth to the touch, providing you with a sense of tranquillity when the urn is held. Whilst this wooden urn was designed to be within your home, it can also be buried in the ground - as this type of wood will naturally decompose between 2 - 5 years and your loved one's ashes will be released into the earth.

The Teardrop Cremation Urn for ashes can be opened at the base by accessing the 4 screws attached, undoing them allows you to lift off a section of the urn and securely place the ashes inside. In its Natural Limewood design, the Teardrop Urn becomes a beautiful decoration, soft on the eyes and complimenting more elaborate accessories and pieces. The Limewood Gold & Real Gold Leaf colour schemes provide the small bit of flare necessary in making this urn intertwine with your home décor.

Authentic gold leaf is created by hammering gold into very thin sheets which vary in gold content and weight. It is approximately 91.7% gold, equating to 22 karat. Gold has been a symbol of opulence from the beginning, with Greek ideology that by looking upon the gold sculptures, a viewer could better themselves.

The process of layering gold leaf over a surface is called gold leafing or gilding. In order to add the gold leaf to a surface it must first be prepared with a surface paint, then applied with adhesive followed by, burnishing, cleaning, pre-paint sealing, painting, and a final post-paint sealing. Ultimately, applying gold leaf is challenging and a lot of careful work is required in order to achieve the perfect painted gold leaf surface.

Throughout history, gold leaf has been used to portray many things. In the Medieval Era, halos of gold leaf were used in art to signify the heavenly or unearthly, much like your loved one who has left our world. Similarly, in 17th century Japan, gold leaf was used to evoke a celestial feeling towards the heavens.
