What are Biodegradable Urns made of?

Are you thinking of purchasing one of our eco-friendly urns but you want to know what they are made from? This blog looks into what our Biodegradable urns are made from and their benefits.

What is a Biodegradable Urn

Eco-friendly or biodegradable urns are made out of a material that will naturally biodegrade over time. This allows your loved one's ashes to become one with nature which can be achieved through a land burial or a water burial.

Plant fibre urns

Our most common biodegradable urn for ashes is crafted out of plant fibres. These pieces are great for land burial and can last multiple years indoors, allowing you to keep your loved one's ashes safe before burying them. For example our Eden Biodegradable Urn pictured below is made from plant fibres. Eden Biodegradable Urns for Ashes

Bamboo Urn

Our Bamboo Biodegradable Burial Urn (pictured below) is completely made up of bamboo, giving this urn a wooden appearance. This natural look allows this eco-friendly urn to be displayed within your home easily. The natural bamboo walls of this urn will last for years within your home until you are ready to bury your loved ones' ashes. Bamboo Biodegradable Urns for Ashes

Mulberry Bark

Our mulberry bark urns are specially designed for water burial, with these urns floating on the surface for a few minutes before sinking and breaking down, allowing the urn to reintroduce your loved one back into nature. We also sell memorial petals that you can place on the water with the biodegradable urn to create an elegant service. For example our Journey Biodegradable Water Urn (pictured below) has been crafted using mulberry bark. Journey Biodegradable Urns for Ashes

Salt and Mineral

Our salt and mineral urns for ashes are elegant pieces. Once these pieces are placed in the water, they begin to sink and dissolve over the course of ten minutes. This releases your loved ones' ashes back into nature. These salt urns are more resilient than our mulberry bark urns allowing you to display them in your home for a short time before you send off your loved one. For example Our Himalayan Rock Salt Biodegradable Urn (pictured below) has been crafted using salt and minerals. Himalayan Rock Salt Urns for Ashes
