How Much Does it Cost to Get a Cat Cremated?
The popularity of pet cremations has risen greatly in recent years, including cat cremations. Cats have become a more recognised and valued member of our family and so they deserve the appropriate send off.
You can read more about why exactly this shift has occurred over the years in our blog The Rise in Popularity of Pet Cremations.
How much does it cost to cremate my cat?
Unlike dogs, all breeds of cat are a similar size and weight, so much so that the cost of cremation shouldn't vary that much, if at all.
Dogs are generally categorised into different sizes or weights which will determine the cost of the cremation. Cats, on the other hand, will more than often fall into one category, 'cat'. However, some crematoriums may use your cat's size and weight to determine the cost of the cremation. These factors may come into play more when finding a pet urn for your cat's ashes as you need to have one big enough to hold the amount of ashes that is produced.
The cost of an individual cat cremation in the UK is roughly around £130. This price will include a basic ashes box or scattering tube that the ashes will be placed in.
A Communal Service
If you're looking for a cheaper option, a communal service may be a better choice. When you opt for a communal service your cat will be cremated with other animals. These ashes are then collectively scattered across a memorial garden or something similar.
It is more often than not, not possible to have your pet's ashes returned to you because there is no guarantee that you will be receiving your pet's ashes.
A Witnessed Service
To witness your cat's ceremony, there is usually an additional fee. This can be an additional asset to helping to achieve the desired closure. On the other hand, due to the still newly emerging guidelines of pet cremation, some individuals want confirmation that their pet is the only pet being cremated at one time.
Pet Urn for Cat Ashes
Although baseline rates of cat cremation will probably include a simple box or scattering tube, you may wish to explore other options to purchase a more decorative pet urn to have on display in your home.
For example, we have many exquisite pet urns for cat ashes here at Urns for Angels which have been designed by skilled artisans all over the world.
Pet Memorial Jewellery
Some crematoriums may offer an additional service, for a small fee, such as paw print impressions for around £30.
Alternatively, a small pinch of your cat's ashes can be used to fill a self-fill ashes jewellery piece such as a bracelet or necklace.
