About This Urn
This biodegradable water urn offers a refined and environmentally conscious way to return ashes to nature. Its gently curved, pillow-like form and natural paper surface create a quiet, sculptural presence, while the visible plant fibers and simple white tie give it a soft, handcrafted character. Designed for use in water, it begins to break down naturally on contact with moisture.
Materials & Finish
This urn is crafted from recycled organic paper made using bark from the mulberry tree, with added fibers from banana leaves for a richly natural look. No trees are cut down during production, and the material is formed by hand before being dried and shaped into the finished urn.
Because the urn mainly consists of cellulose, it is biodegradable under natural conditions. The decomposition process typically begins within 4–10 hours when placed in water, with the exact rate depending on environmental conditions such as moisture, temperature, microbial activity, pH level, and water type or flow. It is designed in accordance with the principles of EN 13432 and ISO14860.
