Travel Urns for Ashes
Travel urns are cremation urns specifically designed for transporting ashes by air, road or rail. They are sealed, lightweight, and made from materials that pass through airport x-ray scanners without obscuring the contents — a key requirement for clearing security on most international flights.
If you're flying with a loved one's ashes, your urn must usually be x-ray transparent (so security staff can confirm the contents), securely sealed, and accompanied by the original certificate of cremation. Most airlines also require ashes to be in carry-on luggage rather than checked baggage. Wood, biodegradable card, certain plastics and some lightweight metals all meet these requirements.
Our travel urn range covers full-size adult capacity through to keepsake sizes for partial transport. Each is selected with international travel rules in mind, including UK CAA, US TSA and EU aviation guidance.
For specific requirements by country or airline, see our travel guides on transporting ashes from the UK and the United States.
